Konata was born to a happy married couple; Kanata and Sōjirō Izumi. Her mother (Kanata) died shortly after her birth, leaving her father to bring Konata up on a steady diet of shounen anime and manga and a variety of games; both RPGs and dating sims. At the age of eighteen (not eight, no matter how young she looks), she really hasn't changed that much; time has passed, but she's still the same otaku that she's always been, having snapped up a part-time job at a cosplay cafe back home. In Gakuen, she's currently fairly antisocial, preferring to stay inside and beat each game that comes along as quickly as the shop can restock them.
